Acoustic Guitar - Compensated Saddle Is Essential
Often beginners get worried when they see some saddles which are slanted and ridged, or appear to be broken, uneven, not level, on the acoustic guitars. This is in contrast with some saddles which are straight, level and even.
On the contrary, the slanted/ridged saddles are known as compensated saddle which is important for good intonation from the guitar. Quote from www.petrosguitars.com/features.htm website (click 'saddle' link): "A fully compensated saddle is an absolute must for virtually perfect intonation. This is not only essential for standard tuning but a perfect boon for alternate tunings..."
