This is guitar accompaniment playing and is the easiest - 3 to 5 lessons and you are good to go! And not all 2 chord songs are kiddy tunes. We can do Beatles Eleanor Rigby at its simplest (Part One). Chord C (with G bass)

1) Strum/brush with all down strokes only - gently. Use plectrum.
2) Strum only the top most 3 strings i.e the 6th, 5th and 4th strings.
3) Each / (forward slash) is one beat/downstroke. The chord name is also one beat/downstroke.

4) Play, memorize and watch your left hand fingers change chords from Em to C to Em - make sure fingers move minimally, keep all fingers down, hovering strings, always ready to play.
5) Start slowly, gently, unpluggish, serenadish... and if you can sing like Adam Lambert, half the battle is won!
